Instrumental track for a new song with Dallas-based artist San Quan. Country blues with dobro, slide, nylon and steel strings layered with an MPC gold drum machine beat…weird combo of elements with a sweet outcome of groove. enjoy the slide.
Wow, this article came out about 7 years ago when I first started Groove Labs and Corporate Rock Stars. At that time there were only two other companies offering music as a team building option. Yes, groove labs was the first to offer a full scale rock band metaphor, before the words rock band became synonymous with a video game. Now if you search music team building you’ll find a list of new service providers going after this market. Good thing I listened to all those people who said this was just a fad. Ignoring people, especially the naysayers, comes naturally to me. Probably one of my best assets is the ability to tune the lemmings out and get on with making the world a better place.
Seeing the story of the grateful dead’s bequeathing its’ archives to the University of Santa Cruz made the smile muscles move. Go Banana Slugs! The Grateful Dead led the great American journey/myth/enterprise down the golden road of unlimited devotion, or something like that. As business entrepreneurs the dead proved masterminds with superior customer service and value added services such as direct mail order for tickets, 800 toll-free number for tour schedules, and free reign to tape, record and distribute their shows paving the way for what some would say was an ultimate “lifestyle enclave” and social network for the free of mind and time. This lifestyle enclave stimulates sociologists, philosophers, ethnomusicologists and entrepreurs to examine the culture and learn from the best traits of this well oiled machine. Thanks to the Atlantic for publishing the piece. Management secrets of the Grateful Dead
Watch the super bowl ads from Hulu’s adzone. Fast becoming a leading video share site, Hulu proves the point that content still rules. Love this joint venture between fox and nbc and now the Hulus offer us this dandy lil dollup of content. BTW, what a great game going on between the Baltimore Colts and New Orleans Saints.
About two years ago, I randomly posted a record of a band I used to play with on this site called Jamendo. They allow you to upload your music under a CC (creative commons) license. Kind of a new thing on the intertwebs. Looked cool to me and now with over 150,000 listens, 10 license deals and people that love our music in Europe, I’m glad I threw this record out there to the universe. Jamendo is not for everyone, but if you’re not actively shopping your music or a member of ASCAP or BMI or any other performing rights organization, then this site is for you. Remember performing rights organizations offer valuable benefits for artists of all types so DO NOT discount that. I choose Jamendo for our band because of the nature of the project.
What’s up world? We’re glad you found us in the digital domain. Our store represents an eclectic collection of art, music gear and other items of note. We spend a good amount of time canvassing the landscape for the new and cool that will help make your world rule. Of course, we don’t know everything so we’d love to hear from you if you have a comment or idea about a new item that you’d like to see in the store.
For starters our goal is to have about 100 new items by the end of 2010. We’ve started with music production gear from a revolutionary company called Open Labs. The folks at Open Labs are game changin’ the music production landscape and we are happy to partner with them to sell their products including the DBeat, LXD and XXL. Secondly we’ve launched with original art pieces from Memphis based artist Zoe Nadel.
